Jill Sweet

Jill is a seasoned accounting professional. Her experiences range from the non-profit sector to public accounting to a controller at a global technology firm. Having worked with an international team for over a decade, she is comfortable engaging other cultures both professionally and socially. Building on a stellar professional reputation and warm personality, she has had countless opportunities to share her faith – either in words or by her actions with colleagues and professional associates.

She has experienced the profoundly deep and healing touch of God’s love in her life and is driven to share this freedom with people living in hopelessness. Her passion was particularly sparked when learning about the number Bulgarian women living in bondage to sexual exploitation around the world. The opportunity to join a ministry already serving the most vulnerable in Bulgaria was a confirmation of God’s calling on her life to global missions. Jill led a sexual abuse recovery group at Northridge Church for women as well as faithfully serving in the nursery for over 12 years.

Following God’s call to Bulgaria in 2017 has been the most faith-building experience of her life. Jill uses her gifts of hospitality and encouragement in practical ways on a daily basis. Her accounting expertise has been a valuable asset to the ministry in Bulgaria. After opening later this year, David and Jill will serve as administrators of the St. John’s Home for girls vulnerable to human trafficking. They were blessed by the miracle of adoption in May 2019 with twins, Matthias and Elijah Sweet.

Jill proclaims Romans 8:28 as her life verse: “ And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

David Sweet, Jr.

David is a recent graduate of Spring Arbor University with a Bachelor of Arts in Recreation & Leisure Management. His passion to reach the hurting and marginalized erupted as his walk with Jesus deepened. Ever motivated to see people reach their fullest potential in Christ, he has had a desire to serve God globally for many years. He has always been particularly affected by the atrocity of global human trafficking, focusing much of his elective research and writing on this topic during his studies at Spring Arbor University.

David is equally driven to use his talents and time to meet needs around him. This enthusiasm led to volunteer positions at Jackson Free Methodist Church, Youth Haven, Michindoh Conference Center and Camp Greenwood in positions ranging from housekeeping and hospitality to food preparation, landscaping and children’s ministry.
Always engaging and inclusive, his personality encourages children to participate in playful learning, growing in their knowledge of God’s love. Having overcome a learning disability, he believes games are a non-intimidating means of discovering the Word and the world around us.

Since moving to Bulgaria in 2017, David’s days reflect the culmination of his God-given gifts and calling. Hosting mission teams, serving and serving alongside national leaders, leading fitness classes, and developing recreational programs bring joy and fulfillment. He is also working toward the educational requirements of a Conference Ministerial Candidate of the Free Methodist Church. David and Jill’s family expanded through adoption in May 2019 with the addition of twins, Matthias and Elijah Sweet.
